Entering Fall

This is the entrance to the Fall Festival we went to in Fountain County. This is such a typical Indiana scene at this time of year. If I could add the delicious smell of fry bread and elephant ears, I would!

Ah yes, I remember your absolutely scrumplicious shot of the elephant ear pastry, dear friend……can imagine those gorgeous smells along with this wonderfully idyllic autumn scene ….thoroughly yummmmmmy indeed!! Love this one!! :)

Maybe the woodpeckers or squirrels have made this tree their home. Our three years spent in Iowa, amidst seasonal landscapes something like this one, all flood back to me as I look at today's shot. Thanks for the memories.

The feeling of fall explodes from this picture. BTW what are elephant ears? except for the obvious... i take it its something one eats?

Rabbit -- Elephant ears are a kind of "short" (i.e. "fatty") batter/pastry that is rolled thin and deep fried to golden brown. The golden result of the process is called an "elephant ear." It is served covered in brown sugar and cinnamon, and hiney may be added. It's one of the reasons Indiana is one of the most obese states in the Union :)
