I love the tones and colors in this old Chevvy truck I saw parked in my office's parking lot. I just had to get a picture! I must admit, I felt a little strange out there in full view squeezing off a couple of shots of the back of the truck--I was half afraid of being challenged by Security or by the truck's owner. Happily, neither occurred--but I took the pix fast and left!
The bad news is that my much-loved D40, the camera I used to take this image--was stolen when my office over the weekend. We have insurance, fortunately, but it is still a bit of a blow...

Superb find, great colors and textures, and I'm sorry to hear about your camera.

I agree Brian: the colors in this are excellent! Good eye to catch this. Gosh sorry to hear your camera was stolen...

Very nice photo. But am very sorry to hear of the theft of your D40. It's such a personal thing to have stolen. I felt invaded and violated when mine was taken not so long ago. And the absence of a good camera, even for just some days, is a very uncomfortable thing. I hope your insurance covers the loss; I hope too that you will go out and get a new camera very soon. There was life after my D50 was stolen; I am enjoying getting to know my new D80. If you're going to stick with Nikon, I think D40X is a great variation on the old D40s.

Hey Brian - awesome shot...I love the rusty feel of the image! Sorry to hear about your loss - man we're losing and breaking camera's left right and centre here at Am3 at the moment!! I hope you get it sorted out! And all the best finding a nice replacement......I can wholeheartedly recommend the D80!! BRILLIANT piece of machinery.

Oh dear! I’m really so sorry to hear about the theft of your beloved camera, Brian!! It always feels awful when something like that happens! I must say this is a superb composition though, absolutely fabulous tones, and most fitting title, and hopefully one of the treasured memories for you of your amazing work with your beloved D40. Very best of wishes with your search for a replacement.

sorry for your loss. I am just like you, hate to be seen taking photos and that's the reason for not being able to catch all those one of a kind shots. Your picture is awesome.

I must say I really enjoyed the history and tones of this image. If it could only talk and tell us of the places it has been or has seen. It reminds me of the movie CARS. I like how you captured the rough old mixture of colors!
Did you take pictures of the full truck? Or did you have to get out of there pretty quick? Was the full truck in the same sort of color scheme?
Secondly-I am so terribly sorry to hear of the camera. The actions of some individuals are REPULSIVE. I hope your insurance policy will cover the full cost of the camera and hopefully give you enough to buy bigger and better? Do hope nothing else was stolen from your office.

Yes - great eye to catch these tones! Oh so wonderful... i know what you mean about the whole snapping picture thing and being confronted. I was sitting out in front of where i work, changing the film in my pinhole camera (which involves me using a "black bag" well i made mine & it sorta just looks like a shirt you put your hands in along w/film, and the camera so you don't expose it to light. Well i'm just sitting on the steps doing this outside & a police car drives by, i'm thinking oh crap hes gonna ask what i'm doing and then he'll want to see & i'll have to tell him its LIGHT sensitive so i can't show him (gee doesn't that sound suspicious) haha but luckily he kept on driving.
So sorry about your camera, it does always suck even tho you know you can get it replaced. It still leaves a weird empty feeling inside. i send you cheers for the search of finding a NEW love!

Great shot - i love the way that the lettering says it all and conjures up further sets of images for each of us. Its an iconic image isn't it! (sorry to read about the theft of your D40 - have you been able to replace it yet?)
