Lost Valley from CanadaWhat a great capture of the fury of the waves and the cloud formation in the sky. Fantastic framing in this picture Brian! I like the contrast in colors of the water, the deep dark color of the sky and then the soft hue of the sand. 27 Aug 2007 5:13am Soph from Enghien, Belgiumwonderful photo but they must be cold!!!! I really like the mood in that photo, I even can feel the wind and the little rain. 27 Aug 2007 6:54am ColNed Pictures from Amersfoort, NetherlandsThat's look real bad... so did you have a lot of rain.. great shot. 27 Aug 2007 7:15am Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomLove the drama in the shot, the figures having fun despite the stormy clouds and foaming sea, nice one 27 Aug 2007 9:35am Stan Pulsar from Strasbourg, FranceOuch, still strolling and no shelter ? 27 Aug 2007 12:48pm Brian from United StatesStrangely enough, it was a very warm day--temp about 85 degrees F and the water was wonderfully warm, too. And although the sky was dark and tumbling and the wind strong, it didn't rain! 27 Aug 2007 12:55pm Brian from United StatesHamid--it did look a little that way in real life. Unfortunately, I only had an old camera with me, but I think its limitations added to the picture and made it a little more surreal. I did no processing on this image at all. 27 Aug 2007 2:00pm Aayawa from Edinburgh, United KingdomNice picture - glad I was not there. I would have tried cropping out much of the foreground and exposing for the sky. The converging lines lead the eye in nicely. 27 Aug 2007 3:08pm Brian from United StatesAayawa--I agonized about cropping, but left the image as it was--primarily because it was a low-res capture and it didn't crop well. I also liked the sense of space and emptiness the small figures suggest against the wider background. 27 Aug 2007 3:13pm Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesYes, I think the vastness of the sky and sea, and the smallness of the figures speaks about our place in the whole order of things. Very nicely put-together. 27 Aug 2007 3:24pm Janice Thomson from Courtenay BC, CanadaI like the soft colors in this, and as Viewfinder points out it really puts into perspective the frailty of humans as opposed to the power of nature. 27 Aug 2007 4:01pm Ian Bramham from Manchester, United Kingdomthe low contrast and slight softness in this shot works very well - the photo conveys an unusual feel of calm. 27 Aug 2007 4:49pm Brian from United StatesIan--I did try boosting the saturation, contrast, and sharpness, but I couldn't find a combination I liked better than the original shot. Sometimes leaving something alone gives the best image. Thank you everyone for the comments and suggestions. 27 Aug 2007 5:01pm MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomWhat a beautiful looking beach, but wow! look at that sky! 27 Aug 2007 10:58pm tengtan from Melbourne, AustraliaFine composition with much atmosphere of sand and sea. 28 Aug 2007 2:14am Dave Mac from Toronto, CanadaNot an ideal beach day for most people, but I would love to be there when it's like that. Great photo! 28 Aug 2007 2:54am miu* from GA, United StatesWhat a stunning shot! 28 Aug 2007 7:33pm |
