Apollo 7 Flame Deflectors

Posted by Brian (West Lafayette, United States) on 4 August 2007 in Miscellaneous.

Massive Saturn 1-B flame deflectors sit rusting in the Florida sun, unused since the October 11, 1968 launch of Apollo 7. This is the same pad where astronauts Ed White, Gus Grissom, and Roger Chaffee died in the tragic Apollo 1 fire. Behind them is the launch pad for unmanned Delta rockets.
